Yellowstone National Park Wyoming/Montana, USA
I 2008 besøgte jeg denne helt fantastiske naturpark i staterne Wyoming/Montana i USA. Yellowstone er en supervulkan, og det 8.987 km2 store område udgør det mest forunderlige landskab af røg, farver og ikke mindst lugten af sulfater. Der er varme kilder, gejsere (bl.a. Old Faithful), vandfald i flotte kløfter, søer, og så lever grizzly bjørne, sorte bjørne, bisonokser, elks, ulve og mange andre dyr sammen i dette fantastiske område.
Jeg gik fascineret rundt med mit kamera og tog billeder af alle de kogende og boblende 'vandhuller', hvor jordens indre kemikalier miksede de meste utrolige og uvirkelige farvekombinationer. Mange af disse indtryk inspirerede mig til – for mig – en helt ny malestil, hvor jeg kombinerer mange maleteknikker i et og samme maleri med strukturmasse, maling med svamp, spartel og pensel med et helt unikt udtryk til følge.
Den malestil / teknik kalder jeg nu "Yellowstone", også selvom motiverne måske ikke er direkte inspireret af mine indtryk fra Yellowstone National Park.

In 2008 I visited this fantastic natural park in the states of Wyoming / Montana, USA. Yellowstone is a super volcano, and the 8,987 km2 area is the most marvelous landscape of smoke, colours and especially the smell of sulfates. There are hot springs, geysers (including Old Faithful), waterfalls in stunning canyons, lakes and grizzly bears, black bears, bison, elks, wolves and many other animals are living together in this amazing landscape.
I walked fascinated around with my camera and took pictures of all the boiling and bubbling ‘water holes' where the earth's core chemicals mixed the most incredible and unreal colour combinations. Many of these impressions inspired me to a whole new style of painting where I combines many painting techniques in the same painting with structural mass, painting with sponges, spatulas and brushes with a unique expression as a result.
This painting style / technique I now call "Yellowstone", although the motives may not be directly inspired by my impressions of Yellowstone National Park.
